MOO — Model of Ocular Optics
What is MOO?
Before Zymulador, Embaúba's first project was a hands-on optics teaching instrument, conceived under the same principle of learning by messing around to see what happens. MOO, Modelo Óptico Ocular, emulates the human eye and how images form through its lenses.

The human eye model is made of a flexible composite material, mounted on a rail, allowing you to demonstrate how myopia and hyperopia affect the eyeball. MOO also reproduces the cornea and the lens through a pair of adjustable optics with an interesting property: just like in the real eye, MOO's lens is a flexible membrane, filled with a translucent liquid. Compressing that membrane changes its shape, letting the focus adjust for objects nearer or farther away.
MOO also includes a corrective lens that slides along the same rail, letting you explore different focal distances. Both surfaces of that lens are made from the same membrane used in the eye's lens, and can have their curvature controlled independently.
The project is on indefinite hold, awaiting a new round of investment to build the physical prototype.
